Water Softener and RODI

All,

I'm moving to a new house and we plan to add a water softener from day 1. I know that overall softeners help with rodi but was hoping to pick your brains on the best softener solution that plays well with rodi. My RODI setup is a 6 stage 100gpd spectrapure with a booster pump.

My wife is gravitating to Kinetico for the softener. I'm indifferent as long as my rodi make up is not impacted.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

I'm also looking into water softeners, so I'm very interested to see what folks have to say. I was leaning towards a system that uses potassium vs the standard salt. You skin will absorb either salt or potassium, I'd rather absorb the potassium. The bags of potassium are more expensive vs salt. Most of the new systems can use either salt or potassium.

I've read up on some of the newer high tech non salt/potassium systems. I haven't been able to find good data and reviews on them.

We sell softeners - have for years. There are wonderful, high quality systems out there at a great price - Kinetico would sure not be where I'd point you.

Your RODI system really doesn't "care" what brand of softener you end up choosing - a properly functioning softener will remove the hardness from your water - that means primarily calcium and magnesium. It is the hardness that can form scale inside the membrane just like it does on your kitchen faucet.
