Water storage

Currently I have 2 brute trashcans for water storage, they are the 30(or 35) gallon gray cans, I messed up the holes I drilled to link the two together with uniseals and a piece of pvc so they leak.
I need to replace these cans, should I be looking to replace these with something else or would the same thing work again.
My phosphate test kit sucks so there is no way for me to see if these things are leaching phosphate into the RO/DI or not.

I am being told to use Food Safe/"Virgin plastic" cans but Rubbermaid Commercial site lumps the Yellow, White and gray all as being meat and poultry safe (assuming that means it it food safe).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm not certain what a uniseal is... I would use a bulk head and really crank down on the nut, to seat it. I have a few on mine and no problems.

so you'd attempt to repair the current setup and not replace. I'll look into that. should be much cheaper than replacing the cans.

Would need to see a pic to be sure, but I would use the same cans if I could. Even if I had to oversize a bulkhead.

yeah i'll try to reuse them, I used a rotozip (like an idiot) to try and cut the holes for the seals they need to have as close to a perfect circle as possible or they don't seal well :(.

Thank you Hop!

Take a hole saw of proper size and cut a hole in a piece of plywood. Then clamp it to your can, over the existing hole. Then you can use the hole saw or the roto-zip, using the plywood jig. It will give you a useable new hole:D

I got the bulkheads and did not even have to redrill the holes everything is 100% dry again. Thanks for the advice!
