Well I Started to do a fresh water leak test . First thing , the garden hose jumped out of the sump . I even had it tied to my over flow line , but I had too much slack where it was tied . Then I found a leak , or should I say stream running from a bulk head plug . The plug had a hole in the center . Then I saw a drip from one of the return line joints . After correcting all that , I started to fill the sump again I observed a leak coming from the side of my sump . There was a small cut in the side wall . Well I got out the silicone , and covered the cut . I am going to try do another leak test today . I'm keeping my fingers crossed . Ted

Steve , No more than I . I also want to be able to keep my tank . Flooding everything does not set well , with the wife . Ted

OMG. I never thought of a fw leak test. I am making saltwater to run with right away!!! Difference between the experienced tank builder & the novice.
Patience it the key, It will be ok.

Diane

BTW, if there's anything I or any of my family can do to help, lmk.

Thanks for the offer Diane . Things are starting to look better . I'm plugging the leaks , for now anyway . I still have a lot to do before salt water, but it's coming along .

How are things going with your big project . Looking forward to seeing your new reef . Ted

One of my bulkheads in the left overflow needs replacing. I'll be doing that today. Then it's time to test the sump & refugium. By next week sometime, I should have the pumps running water through the system. It sure takes a long time to run 200+ gallons of RO water when you have other things to do too.

You saved me with your post. It never occurred to me to test the system. When I put water in the overflows, one of the bulkheads failed! It was an easy cleanup with a gallon of water leaking into a bucket.

I owe you SEVERAL for this little bit of wisdom!

Weeeeee this is fun!

Diane
