Ok i know RO/DI is the best you can get, but i have a question. Is Distilled water Acceptable? What about Re mineralized Drinking water(it is RO and filtered then has calcium,Magnesium and potassium added). I wish i could afford an RO/DI unit but if i could it still wouldn't matter cause i don't own my own home and cant install one where i live. So I'm left to by either Distilled in 1g jugs or Re mineralized in 4g jugs and i was wondering which is better.

i would go distilled, the trouble with distilled is finding out if copper tubes are used in the process , it will effect invertbrates etc, alot of people use it with success, i also know a few people who use "drinking water" from wallmart, its ro water and maybe better choice

oh i forgot, call a few LFS in the area and see if the sell RO or saltwater pre made, as always i would test the water, ph , tds, etc

Right, go with the plain distilled. You don't need the re-mineralized as the amounts of calcium and magnesium in it will not help that much in a reef tank.

Would the Following drinking watered (bottled) be better than Distilled? the following is the Filtering process that the water is Put through.

* 5 Micron Filter
* Carbon Filter
* Reverse Osmosis
* Deionization
* Calcium Chloride Added
* Ozonation

Again, the amount of calcium chloride supplied is probably too small to be of much help in a reef tank. However, if it is cheaper, then go ahead and use it.

Well the Distilled water and the Drinking Water are Both .64 cents per gallon. As stated above i also fear copper in the Distilled water so i emailed the company(hope to hear back tomorrow) The Re Mineralized Drinking water is 4g for 3.97 and contains the following:

Calcium 1.0 mg/L

Magnesium 0.67 mg/L

Potassium 1.8 mg/L

Sodium 1.9 mg/L

I just want to make sure i am using the BEST i can for my tank, i made the tap water Mistake on my 20g and JUST TODAY found out that my Local tap water contains COPPER!!!!!!!!! which explains why my snails have never done well(also explains why i have never seen any Ich in my tank lol) So if the distilled contains copper i don't want to use it!
