Waterloo Area December Meeting

It sounds like Sat. is gonna be fairly warm so we have that going for us, i have a large wood burning stove in the garage so it should be nice and toasty.

You guys wanna grill some burgers or something? If not grab something before you come. Ill buy some burger and dogs or something. I dont have many chairs so if you want to sit down, i would bring one.

As of right now the tub i have the DIY rock in is frozen solid, so is the hose going to my house, we can still do some small batches though, its just alot funner when its warm and you can enjoy playing in the mud. Again whatever you guys wanna do is fine. Ill have some beer on hand so if you wanna drink its BYOB.

Also, the mod kits came today, they look pretty sweet, i like the looks of the new shrouds, they are shorter and cooler looking than the old ones.

Any questions?

See ya then!!!

PArty on!!!

What should I bring? I have portland cement that is just taking up space I can bring or beer... or I could bring some dogs or something.

If were doing the rock were gonna need sand and rock salt.

If Jason brings burger everyeone bring something else.

;)

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for hosting the meeting today. It was great to meet all of you and be able to put faces with the Reef Central names.

Too bad Bob wasn't there, I was hoping to give him my membership form/fee so I'm officially a member, but I guess I'll just have to drop it in the mail to him.

Anyway, Thanks again!

Thanks for hosting Jeremy and Dana! Unfortunately I don't think anyone was really taking any pics? Maybe a couple but that's it. I'll have to take some pics of my mod and post them on here. It's got the new style shroud and it looks pretty sweet, minus all the extra super glue globs hanging of it! :D

Here's the link for the guys tank I was talking about.

And Jason the place I was talking about getting my lights from was www.diyreef.com

Thanks for the link Matt, I do remember seeing that thread before..... Maybe we could go see his tank for a GIRS trip... that would be sweet!

Got my maxi mod put in the tank this afternoon and man does that thing move some water. I think I might have to shave the stop down just a bit as it likes to catch on it when it first starts up.

Mines just the medium flow kit on a 900 and it pushes water all the way across my 5' tank and back at least half way across the tank.

I'll def. be keeping my eye out for another cheap 900 and make another one of these and probably put them on some type of wavemaker.

Im glad you guys had fun, I had a great time. It's funny how we are a pretty diverse group but we can all stand around and BS for hours about reef tanks.

I had a great time as well and would do it again anytime!

Well my mod ain't working now. :(

Not sure what the deal is. At first it didn't want to start up but then it was fine. Well it ran for about 24 hours straight. When I got home from work it started chattering real bad and then it just stopped. And that's all it will do now is kind of chatter back and forth and that's about it.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Try taking it apart and problem solve it. Make sure your prop is glued on and it still spins freely. Check your stopper. Mine broke off somehow and I had to dremel it out and put a new one in
