Hi all,
I finally got a frag of the Tyree Watermelon Chalice and was wondering what conditions (light, alk level, height, etc) you keep it under? Do you feed it at all? I can't wait for this frag to grow out. Pics will come soon.

hey
first off congraulations,
second i used to have mine under PC, very high up,
but under halides i had it at the bottom.
everybody who i know that has a frag of this, has kept theres on the very botom of thier metal halide lit tank.
i have found mine very difficult to feed, and rarely see feeders, more of an open slit on the green coralite.
i would glue yours to a piece of rock and let it rncrst over it, as most people i know, have done that, and it seems to grow very nicley and circulary.
mine seems to be very slow growing, but i have heard from other that its a moderate grower.
keep your parameters, the same as you do for all your lords and other echinos you have.

show some pics!!!!!!

(;

Thanks for the info Joe. May I ask where you got yours from? Do you have a pic of yours? Here's mine. I can't wait for the pink to intensify.

Not sure how fast they grow. I just took this pic while it was eating a mysid shrimp. It's blurry but you can see the pink color developing. The tiny frag (size of a pea) on top is also a Tyree watermelon that I thought I had lost for good. It's making a remarkable comeback.

Here's another watermelon type echino I got back a few weeks ago. The color is a lot brighter in real life. Not sure why it's so hard to capture the true color on the pic.
