Watts per gallon for BTA?

mh is brighter then all... you cant compare watts straight up like that... its used as a "general guide"

also what are the dim of the tank...

I'd say at the very least 4 wpg for a bta. That said there are many variables such as the depth of your tank and it's placement. Some have kept them under pc lighting and say they do well but I have only kept them under MH and T5. If keeping them under lower lighting you should feed them regularly to keep them healthy. As Bebo said it is only a general guide, the worst thing you can do is to put a delicate anemone into an inadequate system. If you don't have peoper lighting upgrade or reconsider the anemone, would hate for you to loose one. : )

I just got a BTA on saturday and i have 4 T5s =216 watts. It seems very happy, I have fed it some frozen brine twice since i got it. Only time will tell but im confident

Very nice, your lighting will be fine. I would feed something better, brine in lacking in nutrition. Mysis, Rods food, krill, or a favorite of my anemones small table shrimp. I buy fresh raw shrimp and cut into tiny chunks freeze and then just thaw and feed. Mine never liked silver sides but you could try it too. You'll get to know it's rythem of expanding and shrinking. don't freak when you see it eliminate waste, some people think it's dying. Here is an excellent site for new anemone owners you should enjoy. Congrats and have fun, anemones are very cool critters! : )

has anyone tried keeping one in a 29 biocube? I don't think it's enough light but my clowns have been wanting one for 2 years. with the LR it would be like 6 or 7" away form the light.

My LFS has one in their 29 BC and it looks very healthy. It's been in it for at least 6 months. I think theirs is too big (probably 8") for that tank size though.

I know someone who kept one in 29g cube but replaced stock lighting with 150 MH. stock lighting in bc Inadequate. I replaced the lights in my 14g with 2- T5 units.
ian20, the problem is you can't make an anemone stay in tha spot, it may choose an alternate location. If you are considering a bta in you bc upgrade your lights, there are so many options. : )

Watt per gallon is not at good rule any more ( if it was ) it doesn't take into account the type of lights used and/or the actual size of the tank. There is a huge different b/t a 20 long and a 20 tall, and if the lights are PC compared to MH.

What if I had a 20 high with 72 watts ( 2*36 ) of PC in a 20 tall, compared to a 20 long with a 70 watt MH -- numbers wise the PCs lights would be better, but in real life the MH would be better.

i have a green bta in a bc 29, seems to be doing well....it's eating well....and getting it's color back (it was bleached when i bought it). i do plan on upgrading my stock lighting soon. but for now i think everything is going well. the bta has not moved since i bought it and seems very happy with it's foot hidden under my rock work. one of my clowns even just started to host!!!
best of luck to you!!
