ok iCam thanks alot

No problem. You might also look into t-5 and see how much you could fit over the 37g :)

reefer, that pendant looks good and the cheapest.. hanging it from the ceiling is NOT an option (my mom would flip).. how could i mount it?

Ditch the regular florucent soon. even if you just upgrade to 10,000 kelvin bulbs, but do not use regular or plant bulbs. You will have an algae garden. TRUST ME. i am still trying to recover from that mistake.

thanks anemonebuff.. i really like that first one, it's a little pricey for me but after i sell a couple things on ebay i might be able to get it :)

I had (tank isn't still up since I moved) the AquaMedic 250w HQI pendant, and really liked it.

I brought it here with me in case I set another tank up.

lol, yea thats my idea.. kinda too young for a job yet but im looking into one.. would any of those lights make me need a chiller? ( chiller is totally out of the question by the way)

Probably not. A pendant allows for a lot of air to take the heat away.

I never had any problems with heat with a 250w HQI over my tank.

ok iCam, i really appreciate the help :) how high off the water would the light need to be? i will make a canopy

Glad to help :)

I kept mine about 7" off the surface of the water. It really depends on the tank. I kept mine that height above the tank to get better light spread.

did u hang the light from your ceiling? i cant do this ( my mom would go crazy if she saw any holes in the ceiling lol ) also making the canopy would be tough because it is a bow front

Yes, I fixed it to the ceiling. I like having an open top.

It's not difficult to fix the holes if you ever have to take the lights out.

ok, also i have a plastic piece that runs from front to back on top of my aquarium that helps hold the flourescent light up.. would this affect the MH lighting the tank?

ive been using 2x65 pc 1actinic and 1 10,oook on my 10g for the last 3 years and have nothing bad to say about them. ive been able not only to keep, but grow monti cap and digi, euphyliia's divisa and paranchora, assorted actinodiscus sp.'s, xenias, parazoanthus, protopalythoa, ricordeas, anemones, and others with problems, but thats in a 10g, so its pretty close to the lights.
