wave box

My LFS owner has told me a wave box would be a waste of money on my 4 ft tank.He has told me a few times that I would not get a good wave because my tank is to short. He has said not to put it on a tank of less than 6 ft.Does anyone have it on a tank my size L48xW24xH36 thanks.I have wanted one for the longest time.I think its the closest thing to an ocean swell.

I bought one in anticipation of a bigger tank, but just had to try it out on my 50 gallon. The tank is a penninsula style (2'x3'x15"). Guess what, it worked. Now the wave wasn't 1" or anything but it was still rockn. So, I think it will work for you and you'll be happy with it.

Is that good enough to get a nice movement?I was wondering can I place it next to my overflow or will it slurp. Is it better to place the unit on the opposite side of the overflow box.I can move the overflow in the middle will this do.I am wondering what is the best setup.I don't know how powerfull a 3/4 wave is will I get nice movement.I don't want the tank to go ballistic either.Have you guys thought of making a lee powerfull version for smaller tanks.I have only seen it on large tanks but it looks great

It isn't a matter of a less powerful version, it is an issue of physics. The resonance frequency of a small tank is too short to create a wave.

The wavebox on it's own is usually not sufficient flow, it needs to be combined with a Stream pump or closed loop to give a directional flow as well.

Ok I thought that it just makes the wave go back and forth.I know you have to have powerheads in the tank.Does the amount of flow you have in the tank reflect the wave you will get.I have about 4500 gallons of flow in the tank itself

The length of the tank determines the wave, the longer the tank, the bigger the wave.

On my 75g I can get a wave over 2 inches, nearly 3. I have to turn down the power to wabout 50 percent.

How did you do that? 1.25" was the best I ever got on a 75 and that was with no overflow.

roger wher should I place the wave box.I asked before in the other thread.I can move my overflow so should i place it in the middle or to noe side of the tank and place the wave box next to it or on the oposite side thanks

Not sure. I played with it for hours moving the in the smallest increments until I had the highest wave. I have little rock in my tank if that matters.

Just went down and turned it up full blast. I little better than 2.5 inches from crest to trough.

I can try to take a video.
