Wave Point Light 1 switch

I would like to separate the 460 lighting from the 12k lights, I've had the unit apart and the ballast has 4 individual connects to the bulbs. Is it possible to add a switch between the output of the ballast and the bulb. I'm not sure about the voltage. Has anyone tried to accomplish something like this and is still alive. Love the light but not all comming on at one time.

PM Grim Reefer and see if he has any suggestions, he is brilliant when it comes to electricity. I had an 8 bulb unit with two switches, but only one power cord. I went and and added a new cord without issue, and while I know my task was easier, yours still seems very doable. Good luck

it is very possible if you know someone that is good with circuit boards.
when you get the second cord in you should put them on timers if you havent already X)

Thanks for all the help

Thanks for all the help

My main concern is the power output of the ballast, can I breaker that power going to the lights with a toggle switch.

I think if you could manage to put two switches between the ballast and the bulbs you want to control you could still use the same ballast.
that way theres still only one cord going to the wall

thanks theronsta, I'm testing how the corals react now with just the 460's installed. I'll just add the switches and manually switch them for now. Wave point has been a good light so far but it does get hot on top.

yeah we have the wavepoint T5Ho retrofits on the fish systems at work and they are great. Only hassle is changing bulbs.. does yours require you to unscrew two screws on either side of the bulb to get them off?
P.S. also not quite sure if you know but if you put the actinics in the 1 and 3 spots(so the bulb closest to the front of the tank is a 460) you will get better color when all your lights are on..assuming your 2 and 4 are daylights lol
