I went to splish splash last week in Long Island NY, they have a wave pool that creates waves when activated. does anyone know how it works?

There are a few types.
1) big alternating surge tanks with pendulum type flapper valves.
2) huge jet pumps
3) huge alternating plungers
The first type is the most common. The second type is used for surfable wave. The 3rd type is not that common due to the danger of the intake suction (don't even remember where I saw this one).
