Wavebox and overflow questions...

I am getting an acrylic tank that is 60"x24"x20"T and it is undrilled. I want to put a wavebox in the tank and was wondering...what is the best location for overflows? I may not even use overflows, I might just use two elbows on the back wall near the surface.

How much of a wave can I expect in a 5' tank? Just concerned that it might overflow...lol

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Probably about 1"- 1.25" The overflow is best centered because in the center the water level is constant.

Ok, thanks! I wll look into a 3 sided overflow for the center of the back wall.

Oh yeah, since I am having the overflow box built for the tank, should I just have the overflow go all the way up like normal or shorten it?

I think it is safer if it is taller- tends to prevent fish and crabs from climbing/jumping in.

I have almost the same tank as you are and I took his advice for center overflow. it has been great.
