Wavebox in a pre drilled tank?

Does anyone have a wavebox in a predrilled AGA tank? I'm wondering because I only have an inch from the water line to the top of the tank...is this enough? I can't think of how to 'lower the water level' in the tank since it has to be at least as high as the teeth to get to the sump.

Any suggestions?

How big is the tank? 1" may be fine. If the tank is 5ft or less it should work though you may have to turn down the pump power slightly.
