Pretty soon I will be a masterdebater...
Roger:
A few months back I was pondering the use of a wavebox on my 90g tank. I opted out as I felt the cycle time was short and abrupt and I wanted a longer smoother wave action.
The 90 is curretnly setup with 2 stream 6060's, one in each rear corner and the flow is great but not excellent (although it does kick the sand out of the middle front
). I curretnly do not have the tank stocked yet so I can still play around with it,
What I was pondering was using the wavebox, but doubling the resonance time. What I did not know is 1) will it work and 2) what is the resonance time range of the wavebox.
Explanation, in a previous thread, we guestimated that the resonance time in my tank might be 1.8 secs with a 5/8" wave (if I remember correctly - 48"lx18"wx24"h). Seems to me that if I set the resonance to 3.6 secs (for example), I would get an alternating medium wave and a small wave as the water would have to 'bounce' twice in a single frequency. I would never see the 5/8" wave but should still get a lot of water movement.
Questions:
Does this make sense?
Will it actually work?
Would you recommend it?
Thanks,
Chris
