Wavebox placement

Would a wavebox work best placed in the middle of the back wall on cube shaped tank? Would making a ceramic shroud or stacking rocks around it affect anything?

From what I have heard the wavebox doesn't work well on cube tanks.

Even 4' x 4' x 2' cubes? OK, it's not really a cube shaped tank.

A guy on here tried that same tank and said it didnn't work.
