wavebox placement

i have a tunze wavebox in my 225 gallon aquarium. The tank is 72" long, 24" tall, and 30" deep/wide.

I was wondering where the best place for the wave box would be? Right now i have it placed at the top center of the left pane of the tank.

Would this be ok? Or should I move it around. It doesnt seem to be making as much flow as everyone claims it does, and i have detrius settling everywhere.

I have the one wavebox and two 6100 streams on a multi if that helps any.

I think that is more of an issue with tuning. If you don't have the frequency set right you don't get much of a wave. A single wave is what you are trying to get, fulcrum in the middle, crest on one side, trough on the other. Be sure the screws are installed to plug the holes in the back- even if you used mag holders. Be sure the screen is facing up and the sponge is on the back of the pump- it is not a prefilter and should not cover the screen.

ok I will check these things ASAP. It may the be screw hole thing you are talking about.

uh uh, i have my screen facing down. I took out the sponge. Do you have to seal the hole on the back? Thanks Roger, i learn something new today.

i plugged the holes and turned it back on. It doesnt look much different. May I have to turn up the power on the driver itself???

Also, what do you mean by the screen facing up? I have the sponge around the pump.

The sponge should be place on the motor. Make it is not covering the screen (the part where the water enter the pump. )

ok ill take a look at that. you want the screen on the pump facing up correct?

thanks guys

Reefer714, there are two holes in the back and supposedly the wave will be like 1/8" bigger if you make sure the holes are plugged. The set came with two screws and the holes are threaded and secure the rails more firmly.

MdM31- The driver should be at full power.

Roger, i just place the crews into the wavebox and it does make a different. I think it is more than 1/8". Seem like the wave is much stronger.

I got the screw in, driver at ful power, and the box still doesnt seem to be doing much. The screen is facing up, and the sponge is not covering the screen.

I guess I gotta mess with the "frequency", could that be the pulse rate on the wave controller???

Sorry for asking all these newbies questions, im new to waveboxes.

When you adjusting the wavebox make sure you make small change it at the time and wait for a min before adjusting it again.

Exactly, until you get the right pulse rate the wavebox really does almost nothing. Each tank has one specific pulse rate that will work.

ok i guess il start at the lowest rate then go from there. will let you guys know how it goes!

Your first time setting it will definately take you a while; the knob is extremely sensitive and it is very easy to miss the right position. Basically it's all or nothing; once you get it set right you'll definately know you have it set right because until its set right it will do almost nothing.

yeah i finally got it tweaked, im getting some sick waves. Thank god for the tanks euro bracing or water would flying out of the tank!

thanks for the help guys i appreciate it!
