wavebox

hi,

i'm about to recieve my wavebox this week and i have a couple of questions.

it's a 4 foot long and about 1ft deep and there is a lot of rock in the tank around the back end where i've made them into caves and crevices for my fish.

should i put the wavebox where it has a free flow into the tank so that live rock won't stop the flow.

another question, how high is the wave, is it adjustable, reason i ask is i don't have a sump due to space constraints in our lounge.

I'm a bit worried as i have visions of a huge wave going across my tank and overflowing onto the side and ruining the carpet (the wife will murder me if that happened)

any info would be much appreciated.

thanks

the wave is predicated by the size of your tank and it is (size) controlable. roger will chime in soon and give you the correct set up instruction, but must say it is my favorite piece of equipment i own. sorry deltec.

I am not sure how this will work, on a usual 4ft tank like a 75 or 120 which is 20- 24" deep, you get a 3/4"-1" wave. A coral farm that tried them on shallow tanks like this said the results were very poor. It is best to have nominal obstructions of the flow but a light rock structure that is at least 6" away won't cause a huge problem.

Hi,

Many thanks for your info.

If it's adjustable then that's fine, I can rework the layout if need be and slowly dial up the wave until it's okay.

If need be I can take a couple of inches of water out of the tank to improve the wave if necessary.

If it's possible, I may come back with some more questions once I get my hands on it.

Thanks again

The problem is, according to one report, such a tank is too shallow for the wavebox to work properly.

Hi,

Just to let you know that I've got it and it works brilliantly.

Got the resonance spot on and turned the power down to 30%, have a brilliant wave action.

The corals are now swaying back and forth in time with the wave, it looks so natural, not like before where they were being blown around by powerheads.

I've got one pump in the tank, that I leave on overnight to keep the water moving for the fish. Then it gets turned off when the wavebox comes on in the morning.

Got to say, for something that is so simple, it does a brillaint job.

Kudos to tunze for making it.
