wavemaker placement?

Has anyone ever placed a wave maker in the center of the end wall or on the end wall closer to the front glass? I know the idea placement would be toward the back glass but lets face it we all dont have HUGE tanks with lots of room to aquascape and since my rock is mainly towards the back Iam afraid near the back wont work since you need a clear path for the "wave". Anyone have any input??Anyone have a wavemaker towards the front??

It would work fine. The most important thing is to have a clear shot.

I believe the center would be the best placement.

Thanks for the input USC-fan, do you happen to know if there is a specific distance that needs to be clear in front of the WM?

Ideally clear across the tank, from the output straight across should be free of obstructions as possible, any obstruction reduces the wave height and changes the frequency needed to produce a wave.

Most often, the front of the aquarium is the only place for a clear shot to the other end.
