wavemaker sensor problem

when my lights turn off the wavemaker stays on. any idea why the sensor wouldnt work? it has always worked before. what can i do to fix it?

Do you mean a wavebox or the multicontroller?

the wave maker is suppose to shut of at night with the sensor. when the lights went out it continued to run. the controller is working so i assumed it was something with the sensor.

Double check the photocell connection, check if it is in total darkness and that the socket didn't get wet. Try unplugging the power from the pump and then plug it back in.

ive checked the connection. it didnt get wet because its inclosed. and ive also done the power from the pump. im out of ideas. it worked fine yesterday. and last night it didnt shut of.

Hmm, is it connected to the multicontroller is it just set up by itself?

I would check two things- first, plug the photocell in and make sure it is firmly pressed in, sometimes it hangs up on the housing but is not plugged in. After checking this unplug the pump from the wall and wait about a minute. Test it by covering it with your hand to be sure it isnt ambient light.

Also, check the photocell- can you see any corrosion inside?

roger, the thing started working last night. any way there could be some type of short in the wires to the photocell. i tried unplugging the unit. i also checked the connection to the photocell. and it didnt work. i got up this morning and it was working correctly.

If the cable gets pulled on it is possible to get a break in a wire and a fragile connection as a result.

well,what does a new one cost? if it happened once it will happen again.

They are only about $12 but it should be warranty. I would give it sometime, it doesn't seem like a critical feature and my concern is that it could be just an issue with it getting some ambient light or even a fault of the controller and it will be money spent for nothing.
