Waves in the ocean-particles/organics

How are POC removed off rocks from the ocean? I know that a hurricane would suspend and lift a lot of sand, essentially flushing settled poc's into the deep sea or be used by organisms on its pathway.

Ocean rocks look so clean. Why do you think they stay so clean looking?Waves?

I find that by having higher phosphates, my rocks get brown and fuzzy with poc's stuck to them. Upon closer inspection you can see that mostly they are sticking from small amounts of hair/micro algae inside the rocks pores. Must be a survival mechanism.

Do you think that having phosphate levels as low as the nsw levles would cause rocks to be much cleaner looking because there is signifigantly less algae?Possibly its because coral reef rocks are covered mostly in corraline algae, wich would inhibit poc's from sticking/settling to rocks.

What do your rocks look like? :)

Some of my rocks are bare corallline. Others have some fuzzy growths on them. Comparing to the ocean is hard since grazers are different in the ocean too.
