Way to go Kmart

What a PR nightmare they're going to have to deal with. And a well deserved one too. I thought KMart was bankrupt - but apparently not. They appear to have enough money to film commercials with endangered animals.
.. the production company, Boxer Films of Los Angeles, had recommended against using a live shark. When the animal died, Kmart asked that a second shark be brought on set, but the production company refused and replaced the animal with an animatronic hippopotamus, ...
They should have refused the shark from the get-go but at least they didn't comply with the second shark request.
Actors were jumping in and out of the pool where the shark was being kept
That surely caused a lot of stress on the shark. Who's to say that this alone didn't directly result in the animals death?

If they were that stupid i woudlnt put it past them to hvae used "pool water" Extra Chlorine please....and hold the salt.....Wait a second...K-mart is still in buisness?????

I can't imagine what sort of commercial they were trying to film with a live shark. K-Mart is still limping along. There is one in the next town over from me.

When a company is doing poorly and thinks that having a shark in their next commercial will improve their image...

= doom.

This was a friends shark. He rescued it years ago and nursed it back to health. The whole story is really sad. the humane society was present for the filming, from what i understand to protect the shark from poor handling. A necropsy is currently being done but my guess is that that studio time is expensive and the production company rushed the acclimation or they water had issues. Details are scarce as to what actually happened.

I went in two K-Marts recently. Both were nicer than any Wal-Mart I can remember.

Did I mention that people were actually around to answer my questions? How about having a few cashiers available to ring up customers?

About 10 years ago, I swore I would never step foot in another K-Mart as I had been in 3 different stores that were all pathetic. They have come a long way.

sears owns kmart now. I doubt they will go outta business. The kmart by me is crazy nice.

Too bad for the shark K-Mart stinks as a company. They will never be able to compete with the cheap Chinese crap Wal-Mart sells. Capitalism... oh well.

Really? Because all the ones by me are going out of business n it's reall dirty

I feel like the agency, DraftFCB, is also somewhat at fault here for including it in the script.

Funny thing is that I work in advertising, know a few people who used to work their, and like Kmart it's had a rough time the last few years.
