Wayne's 'Rainforest of the Sea'

Looks awesome! Are you going to skin the base?

Dude, have you got two TV screens on the wall?

Thank you, yeah when I'm not so lazy I am going to try and get around to making a skin. I am going to try and do something like this..

Add the reef tank with state of the art high end equipment and you have your Man Cave Certification Wayne :smokin: Just be wary of introducing any non reef safe organisms to the cave such as GF's who may try to divert funds away from the established cave dwellers - as per the norm, dip and Q them to be safe.......

Seriously though, tank is looking great, that ATI sure puts out some serious light - you won't be bothered with any lack of coverage for your SPS placement. Keep the updates coming mate. :)

You don't know how happy I am to be Man Cave certified, thank you! haha

So far I am really happy with the Powermodule, colors in most of my sps are better than ever and they've only been under the light for a few weeks.

They are notoriously more resilient that AEFW!

What are your lyre tail anthias eating? We got a male from the LFS and are going to be ordering a few females from LA but the male doesn't want to eat. By that, I mean he eats everything I throw into the tank like a mad fish but then spits it all out either immediately or 5-10 minutes later.

How are you finding the Vortechs with your sand bed, can you crank them up or does all hell break loose. Btw, the rabbit fish needs to stay as every man cave needs a freeloading occupant who basically just bludges off you and doesn't help keep the place clean, he won't eat algae but i bet he'll scoff some pizza if you drop it in......
How is the little mandarin going, interested to know what you're feeding him - more pics would be cool. :)

They eat pretty much everything actually. Got really lucky. I feed plankton, cyclopeeze, mysis and sometimes brine shrimp all soaked in Selcon. Try selcon or a garlic entice formula.

They actually only move it slightly! Its Caribsea Special Reef Grade sand, fairly large grain size. Hahaha the rabbit is getting nice and plumb in there for sure.. must be the carbs..

Mandarin eats cyclopeeze and actually even will swim up to the surface when I feed and grab some plankton. He's not shy and is pretty healthy because of it. Oh, and I also threw in some live Tigger Pods for good measure.

Ill snap a few pics soon.

Mounted most of my corals and things are starting to actually look pretty good. I am noticing little spots of the flourescent yellow cyano starting to form on my rocks which you can see in some of my pics.. i might be proactive and do a 3day blackout or maybe even dose chemiclean and try and get rid of it for good. Here are some pics:

Do you have any kind of screen netting top for those pretty wrasses? They look prettier in the tank than behind it on the floor.

Looks good....might have been a little early for SPS but they could really start colouring in when the system matures a bit more.

Oh this picture looks to be a montipora confusa. Some people even call it a montipora spongodes .

Yeah I will be making one.

Yeah, they were transferred over from an old tank so wasnt much I could do on the timeframe front. Thanks for the input tho! and thank you for the ID

Well strangely enough my male Rhomboid Wrasse has gone AWOL .. not really sure what happened to him but it isnt looking good at this point. Obviously, his girlfriend annoyed him to death.. Poor guy!

Everything else has been going pretty good, I have been keeping up with weekly 15 gallon waterchanges thanks to one of those handy 'hook up to your sink' syphons. NO MORE BUCKETS!
Although I was having a little trouble with Alk swings for a bit there and have come to the realization that 15 gallon waterchanges w/ H2Ocean salt does not keep my Alk above 8 for a week.. Lost a mini-colony and a couple frags.. Thus I set up my Marine Magic doser to keep things in check. Alk is now steady at 8.5 dKH where before, it would drop as low as 6 dKH in a week. Might try out the Fluval salt here soon.

Parameters as of today:
Temp: 79.2F (APEX)
Salinity: 1.025 (Refrac)
Calcium: 410ppm (Sailfert)
Alk: 8.5 dKH (ELOS)
Mag: 1310ppm (Sailfert)
NO3: ~2ppm
PO4: 0.00 (Hanna)

Every second water change I have been dosing Prodibio BioDigest (1vial) and BioPtim (3vials). I have not yet dosed ReefBooster but am planning to do so next week.
I am also starting to dabble into using a couple Zeovit products; Coral Vitalizer, Pohl's Xtra, and Amino Acid Concentrate, so we will see how that goes!

those are some great pics.....love the setup. sorry to hear about your missing fish. wrasses are known to jump out of the tank and my last one took me days to find him.
