ways to add amgnesium

I just tested my water and the Mg level was about 970. I have some kent MG stuff, but was wondering if there is a cheap, effective way to add Mg? It looks getting up to 1350 will take a while and cost a couple of the Kent bottles. I figured epsom salt, but I might be too low for that right now.

Btw, when I mix new sw, is there a recommended amount of epsom salt to add? Thx.

you gotta test, re-test and then add. Io will be consistant, so it should require same amount of mag (and calcium) each time.

I recommend using mag flake. Dow flake for calcium. 10 bucks will provide a lifetime supply.

Magnesium sulphate also works, aka Epsom Salt.

Wrong time of the season for that stuff. You can usually find them in the home depot/Lowes as ice melt during the winter.
See if someone near you can lend you a few pounds until you hit Dec

Also do not raise the Mg all on one shot to 1350 ppm. Do it in 2 intervals a day apart.

Another option is to add some dolomite to the Ca reactor, it doesn't seem to dissolve as quickly as coral media, but it will help keep the Mg levels up.
