WB setting for Canon Xsi

I wanted to see if I could get some help with the custom white balance settings on my Canon Xsi. I have tried to take some pictures under just Actinic and I cant seem to get the color corrected with the WB settings.
Is this always going to be the case so I can only take pictures with the MH's on?
Or is there a better setting to use for Custom WB on this camera under Actinic only.
I am using VHO URI Actinic plus bulbs

Can you set a manual color temperature on the XSi? I just set my 30D to 10000K and do the final adjustments when I process the RAW file.

No you cant set manual color temp as far as I can tell. You have a choice between a few presets and then custom.

I have the Canon Rebel XTI and I assume they are pretty similar with the settings.
If you use one of the presets use cloudy or shade.
You can set the WB also manually by holding a white object in the tank and then taking a picture from this. The camera will adjust the WB accordingly.

To be honest WB is one of the most tricky things when you take fish or coral pictures.

Therefore I shoot my pictures in the RAW format and adjust the WB with a software program. Goes faster, more accurate and very easy.
I use Adobe's Lightroom for this wchih has a few other presets that are very useful for reef photography. They have a 30 day trial.
I think your camera came also with kinda software where you can adjust the WB manually.

If you have a ny further questions..please ask.

Here is a link to my Gallery with a few good shots I made: Gallery

Actinic only shots are in most cases going to come out blue.

RAW is your best bet because you can do alot of tinkering in the post-processing.

Just wondering why you wouldnt use a gray card in the tank??
