My opinion, having seen firsthand the difference in attendance at the meetings we are generating between meeting monthly on Friday evenings and every other month meetings on Sundays, is that we should keep the Sunday meeting format.
It's also easier on the "fragmaster", as coming up with interesting fresh frags for monthly meetings is more difficult, based on personal experience.
As far as topic suggestions: "The DIY Series". Each meeting could focus on a different "how to do it yourself" subject. Episode suggestions:
- How to mix your own supplements
- How to set up an ATO system
- How to set up an ATS
- How to set up a Calcium Reactor
- How to set up a Sump
- How to set up a Reef Controller
- Acrylic fabrication
- Custom hoods
- Custom stands
- QT
- Aquascaping
- Hard and soft plumbing
- Electric circuit load planning (or "Why can't I plug everything into the same outlet?")
- Taking pictures
- Propogation
- Dipping
- Acclimating
- Coral foods
- Fish foods
- Invert foods
- Fish health and diseases (or "What to do when Nemo ain't right")
That's more than 3 years worth of semi monthly meeting topics right there, without any guest speakers, bbqs or parties, which would hopefully be applied liberally throughout.
