Would it make more sense to do a 5gal waterchange wait a little while or a day then do another 5gal or would it be Mo betta to do a 10 gal WC jus Curious on what ya'll think
:D

It depends if you are doing them to solve a problem such as high nitrates or simply doing them as routine. A bigger water change is better if solving a problem as long as the water you use is the same slainity, ph, and temp.

I have also heard that it depends on the size of your tank.

For example; doing an 80% waterchange on a 10-30 gallon tank might not be the best idea.

I been wondering this to. For the last few months I been doing 5gal wc daily mon-fri witch on my system (250gal) works out to be 10% a week.

But I was thinking maybe it would be better to change say 25gal every week to replenish all those trace element at once.

I would change all 10g at once unless ,as staed, it was a nano tank(under 30g).
However, I have a 10g nano, and I do 100%(theoretically) water changes by siphoning out 1 gallon and putting back 1, drain another fill another and so on until I have replaced 10 g. Granted, there is some original water in the tank after the change it is very dilluted and free of DOCs, and replenished of vital trace elements

I would say it's better to multiple over a period of time, that way it's not as big a shock to the system than doing a huge water change at one point.

I remember reading this in a TOTM article where the owner had a 300g and did a 5g water change everyday (hopefully I'm allowed to post this).

I would say if you are doing water change to remove waste then I would do one larger one instead of muti - small ones. If the water change is being performed to keep levels (cal, hardness, etc.) up then I would do smaller ones instead of one large one.
