We call him The Kraken

Went to the reef store the other day and the owner had gotten in a 90 gal cube (one of those fancy sapphire cubes). It had been pretty much given to him complete with unwanted critters due to a divorce. He said the tank was horribly dirty, (offered to sell it to me really cheap and it was cheap but they are just too deep for me). Anyhow, inside was, THE KRAKEN. What is the Kraken you ask? Well, I had no idea a brittle star could get something like 18 inch from arm tip to arm tip. The owner wanted him gone, because he's so big he's down right hideous looking, and olive green. I put him in a tank with nothing else except some snails and almost cured rock. Figured the water couldn't be too dirty for him considering what he'd been living in.

Anyhow, the problem is, I really don't need a sea star that big and was wondering if there would be a good way to re-home him. If there were any groups out there that might be aquarium related close to me who would have someone with a MUCH larger tank. He's in a 45 gallon right now, and I tell ya, he looks crowded"¦

He hides a lot and has one damaged arm, but other wise eats really well and is quick on his tentacles should you try and get him out. I feel bad for him because he's so damn big he really needs someone with a 2-300 gallon aquarium.

Which I do not have, no plan to have. So, any advise? Other than looking up a recipe on the internet and eating him as the store owner suggested. (Lol).

The sump or a refugium is a great place for any green brittle star. They are known predators of sleeping fish. Very cool to watch them hunt, not so cool to see it eat your prized $$$ fish.

My refugium isn't open to him. One, it's WAY too small, two, it's got an Mandarin living in it.
My sump is in the dark a separate tank, not really a good place for anything to live and it's only about 25 gallons.

This guy needs a huge tank.

you might try posting in the Livestock trading forum. If your just looking to re-home than say that, and also helps to list your location.
