Thanks,
I got my inspiration from Marino420's stand, I think we all copied his :D

Sal's looks awesome with the paintwork, I think he said he used automotive paint.

ok i was thinking that was painted on. still looks great. as much as i like the look of my stand i wish i could have gone with something custom like these. i would like the stand to be a little bigger so i could have more room.

Here is a shot of mine. 120 gallon tank

I didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off, but it turned out to be easier than i expected. thanks for the compliment.

Fantastic Job !
I spent the last couple of weekends building my stand & canopy as well.
Next weekend I plan on trimming it.

You did a great Job,
can't wait to see how you did your canopy.

Hey Jon that is quite the difference since our last conversation. Aren't you glad you went that route?
Regards,
Doug

Jon, that looks awesome. Than looks alot better than I thought it would. GREAT JOB!:hammer: My hat is off to you.

In wood alone I would say about $300+/-, I didn't anticipate that much, but once I bought some I had to finish it.

We all learn the hard way that this hobby is NOT CHEAP! Not to mention the tools needed for the job.;)

Directed here from your post in the DIY forum. Very nice looking build. What tools did you use for it all? Have you decided if you are going to build or buy doors? How about stains for the stand? Any finally, any teasers on the canopy?

Thank You, I used a Compound Miter Saw for the miters, and a table saw for the skin.

My doors are basically the same material used for the skin 5/8" Sandply, really smooth, and cut to 1/2" larger than opening, doors are removable by way of 4 roller cathces on each opening.

I'm painting the whole thing a satin black, not to experienced in stains, and don't want to risk having it come out ugly, besides, Will16 his is black and looks great, and Customcolor his is black as well and looks great.

The canopy is actually getting done tonight, was suppose to have it done Sunday night, but things didn't work out that way.

Will be posting pictures when canopy is done, and after stand is painted.

Canopy is done, updated pics below. only thing left to do now is putty nail holes, add the top layer to the stand to finish it off, prime & paint.

Thanks Chris, it's definetly been a learning experience. what sux is I ran out of trim for the canopy only needing 2 1" corners, I have some scraps but they are too short which is how I damn near cut a finger.

After speaking to the other guys, they've taken about 8-12hrs to trim, I've taken 4 days, but most of it was spent figuring it all out, going back to the computer to see their pictures, and trying to measure 10 times to cut once to avoid ruining a whole section of wood.
