weird behavior ( brazilian flameback angel)

meow?

Hi all,

What would cause a fish to do a swooping maneuver and also it's colors fade out at the same time? This little ordeal takes about 2-3 min and then the fish is fine. The water parameters are fine except for nitrate which is 20ppm alittle high but not to bad. The fish gets feed a varied diet.

No correct answer ... might be simple as stress or posturing with other fish. I still miss my old Brazilian flameback .. hardy fish, colorful, and definitely not shy. However, the mortality rate on these fish in the first month or so is probably higher than many fish .. not sure if its the collection process or built into the fish .. once they get by the first couple months they tend to be hardy.

Hi kevin,

However, the mortality rate on these fish in the first month or so is probably higher than many fish

With this particular fish that's the first that I've heard about the mortality rate

once they get by the first couple months they tend to be hardy.

Hmmm, I've had my pair for ( including this one) for alittle over 2 months. Maybe with my luck I need 4 months:eek:

Thanks for the suggestions and help kevin:thumbsup:

Normally dwarf angels don't get along with other dwarf angels ... perhaps you got lucky and have a male/female combo that works ... or maybe thats the cause of the behavior issue.
