Weird Clownfish Behaviour

For almost the past week my clownfish have accomplished this... They will barely leave this corner and they twitch at least twice a day. I'v had them for about a month and a half and I bought them from the same tank. Will they spawn soon? If so how long? If not why are they destroying my sand bed?

Hrmm... I had a maroon clowns who enjoyed landscaping around his anemone. He created a little half crater beneath the rock. I think it is a kind of way of making their space more comfortable. It may be like pre spawning behavior but My original clown did it while he was still single. Didn't stop him when we got a mate either.

I'm sorry to say, if that is what they do, you can't stop it. It won't be much more than an annoyance. I would suggest a deeper SB however so they don't get to the glass.

My female maroon did the same thing all the time. I put a piece of eggcrate on the bottom and covered it with sand. That just irriated her so she would dig the sand out of the crate. Then I put a ceramic tile down. She bit me.

Clowns do what clowns do. They might be getting ready to spawn, but as likely as not, they are just making their home more comfortable.

When I first started with SW tanks, I made a tank with nothing but a sandbed. Each clown would dig his own hole every day and hover in it like a bird in a nest.
