weird things happening

my cleaner shrimp has disappeared, but im pretty sure he may have passed over night and the hermits did work on the body. but i also noticed last night that my mantis came out of his burrow and was floating around the tank and then crawling on the bottom. he did the float/crawl thing for about two hours and then disappeared. this is just perplexing me why my shrimp are acting so weird and dieing while everything else is just peachy.

i also had a cleaner shrimp die two months ago but i have had him nearly three years so maybe that was old age.

Ok i hope you do not have a spearer. if you do thats your mantis faviorte food being that spearers like shrimp because of their soft body. i used to feed my P.c matis shrimp atleast one live shrimp a week so he can use his spearers and so he can use his hunting skill. spearers do not smash their prey like their smasher cousins. this is why they are known as the cat of the mantis family for their lion like hunting skill. really cool to watch . basically if u have a mantis in your tank. every night he is probably thinking when he will kill not if he will. your shrimp dont know which way to run. you would to if you had a mantis in your tank.

no he was a smasher, only about an inch and a half. i was never able to identify what species because he was so small and only got to see him briefly when i would feed him. this guy was kinda chill for a smasher though, he never attacked any of the emeralds or snails or hermits.
