Well, at least I get to start over again...

No good news from Montgomery... I've lost every fish I had (haven't found any of the clown bodies or the goby bodies from the 120, but have pulled the Christmas wrasse, mandarin, never found cleaner wrasse to begin with, all three OJ cardinals, the engineer goby, the mimic tang, purple tang, etc.). Not exactly sure what got them... I didn't have the luxury of time, so the they were all moved into tubs and and moved to the new house. The water temp has only been 74-75 since I moved them, but I didn't think that was too cold. I have the sand now, so I can get the tanks put back together again and hopefully move them soon... Doing water changes one 10 or so 15 gallon tubs is a PITA. So far the only coral i've lost were in the tubs with the dead fish (quite a few different tubs..._ I lost some of my nicer pieces (of course-couldn't happen any other way, huh). I lost my Evil Mel mille, garf green hairy mille (was almost solid bright pink), the fishdoc rock everyoe liked (I glued every frag you brought me tone rock to make keeping track of them easier, so one goes, they all go...), the garf green and gold acro, the tricolor tenius I got from casey, my cephastrea, two different ORA bottlebrushes, a huge blue ridge coral, and a whole lot more... Lesson learned, fish get their own bins and never trust POS UHaul truck (wouldn't start after we got it loaded, which delayed the cargo van with the livestock-then I didn't get to Montgomery that morning until 3:30-4:00 with two people here waiting to help unload the tanks from the UHaul). That and 5 trips between Nashville and Montgomery in the last few days... Losing Shakes hurts the most. Can you actually pass this test, or does it just keep having the screw turned more and more?????????? Time #2 it hasn't looked so bad to get out of it.

So sorry to hear Gary. :(
You had Shakes a really long time. Especially awful is you made the decision to not get a larger tank to combine tanks just to keep Shakes happy. It can only get better from here though, right? I hope everything else with the move is going decent.

Knew it was going to be bad from that title, but losing animals that have been with you for a while is tough, especially when they have names :( I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that Gary.:( I have been through some bad times before and almost gave up. Something keeps drawing me back though. If mine have grown enough to frag when you get ready for some more corals you can have some frags. Right now everthing I have is small though. I know you have helped me out before and I would happy to repay the favor.

I was thinking about how things might have turned out for you in the move on the way home from school today Gary......very very sorry to hear the news:(

When I saw the thread title my heart sank.

At least this will give you some time to sort everything out. I hope most everything else will pull through.....especially sorry to hear about shakes.

Of course what is mine is yours and when school is over for the summer and you get settled in I will send you frags of anything you want in my tank. I plan on comming to a meeting in Nashvegas this summer so maybe we could meet there or I would be happy to ship.

Try and keep your chin up....this too shall pass. Moving is the worst part of reefing.

Chris

Sorry for your loss, Gary... i have never had a chance to check out your tanks ... but everyone always told me about them. Keep your head up and with time it will be back better than ever. And, at least you know you are not moving anytime soon again.

Gary, I hate to hear that.

I only have one SPS and I'd be glad to give it to you. It's actually the one you fragged for me at the last meeting at the Aquatic Critter (green mille?). I don't have the proper setup to keep it going to it's full potential, though it has grown some, and my 75 won't be up and running until we get a new house.

If you want it, just tell me when you're coming back in town.

On no! So so sorry to hear all that bad news! I killed tons of stuff moviing it just down a flight of stairs, I hate to think how bad it would be if I moved it across a state line! If anyone can have a good outlook in bad times it is you! You know what I have and you know all you have to do is ask. Get settled in and I will ship it to you. My stuff is pretty common but you are welcome to any of it. :( RIP shakes :(

I just set up a 30 G cube and my dh is promising to re-finish my walls in my studio. Ug! To move across the state, I tremble just moving around the corner.

Condolensces on Shakes... not to mention the rest. I don't have nearly as nice stuff as Chris (someday :)...maybe), but I have gotten a ton of frags from you, so if I can help replace anything, let me know.

On another note, I've had my fill of U-Haul from many past experiences sounding not unlike the one you just had... I'm fairly certain I will take my business elsewhere when I need to move (which is unfortunately all too near).

Not exactly sure what got them...

So frustrating. Sorry, Gary.

Yea, I'm sorry about everything lost too. Especially Shakes. Didn't you have her over 10 years? Maybe it wasn't the temp. that killed them...just really stressed during the move???

Steve

Gary! I am truly sorry for your losses. I know the feeling. I have moved several times across town and lose a few things along the way.. Man, I do hope it all gets better and you have a good LFS down yonder. I have several things form you and you are more than welcome to frags. just let me know buddy

Gary, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I too had a tough time moving from Memphis to Nashville and it's sad to lose animals that you have cared about. If anybody took pains to do this right, it sure would be you.

I am very sorry Gary, I am intimately aware of how things can go wrong in a move. Be very careful with your acros and genrally SPS, they seemed to stress over the first week and I lost most of them. This time I am going to set up my new tank, let it cycle and then start moving things over slowly. In this case I will have the luxury of time.

Gary:

Believe me I feel your pain. Should I have anything of interest to you just let me know. I'm there for you.

Rick

Sorry to hear that your move wasn't a good one. I thought about you one day last week while we were snorkeling over a reef in Aruba and wondering if you were packing up your beautiful tanks. I will take extra good care of the monti frags I got from you so I can pass frags back to you when they grow out a bit. My brother's in Huntsville, and I'm down that way every now and again. Fare thee well, Gary, and keep in touch.

dude, every "sorry" cliche applies....pop in some John Prine....
Angel From Montgomery

I am an old woman named after my mother
My old man is another child that's grown old
If dreams were lightning thunder was desire
This old house would have burnt down a long time ago

Make me an angel that flies from Montgom'ry
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go

When I was a young girl well, I had me a cowboy
He weren't much to look at, just free rambling man
But that was a long time and no matter how I try
The years just flow by like a broken down dam.:

There's flies in the kitchen I can hear 'em there buzzing
And I ain't done nothing since I woke up today.
How the hell can a person go to work in the morning
And come home in the evening and have nothing to say.
