One thing I never understood,, how the heck can ICH 'hide'' ''be invisible''
''hide in the gills'' It cannot. It has to go thru its stages and theres no way you can tell me that it ''knows'' how to target just the gills when its looking for a host.

How do you QT? everything ! you either need HYPO, or COPPER and you cannot treat frags, corals, rock etc like this. so the potential to introduce ich other than from fish is great IMO.

QT'ing IMO is good but mostly fOR overall health and to get fish strong and stress free from shipping. Keeping quality water and NOT overstocking IMO is the best way. Most people I see overstock bigtime with fish and add fish within months of setting up a new tank. To me a tank should not have fish for at least 6 months minimum IMO.

You stated yourself it has to go through its stages, so if you treat fish prophylactically that prevents the fish from transferring anything. If coral is kept in a tank free of fish for an extended period of time before being put in the display that prevents them from transferring parasites. And if rock is kept in a tank free of fish or in hypo that will prevent it from transferring. You just have to be careful and this may not be for everyone I understand that, but when you have fish that can cost upwards of $1,000 things change a little. And it is more for people who plan on keeping a display tank running for 10... or even 20+ years. Public aquariums have shown that large angels will live over 20 years and IMO the only way one can really keep a fish that long is by proper QT, which includes anything to be put in the display. Also like John mentioned it can be to strengthen a fish up before putting it in a display of aggressive feeding fish.

Well, I was just looking into my tank and noticed a LOT of little creepy crawly things all over my black plastic overflow. Can someone tell me what this might be? Is this part of the ich cycle or maybe I had something else going on in my tank?

The saltwater stores in Lexington are pathetic!!! MVP is okay but they are beyond overpriced.... You need to go to Animal House in CYnthiana, or Petropolis Live in Lawrenceburg.... STAY AWAY FROM LEXINGTON PET STORES!!!

Ich or crypto CANNOT be seen with the human eye in its free swimming form without a microscope from what I understand

Hi there. I have been working with MVP. I like the owner and the staff and I feel like they give pretty good advice. And the corals I have purchased there are all doing well. There are some topics where the advice I get there is quite different from what I read here so I am at times conflicted. So I have learned to take in as much info as I can and try to make my best judgement. What about Cincinnati or Louisville? Are there any good shops there? I am in Louisville around once every other month.

Yeah the copepods must have came with your live rock.... there are a couple nice stores in Louisville, Aqautica, and Sandys Pet Shop... but before you drive to Louisville go to Animal House in Cynthiana, their prices are very cheap, on supplies and good quality livestock. They are only about 35-40 min form Lexington.... Also Petropolis in Lawrenceburg has very nice fish and great prices..

They were always there, they've just taken advantage of a predator-free environment to multiply.

One thing I have noticed is that since my fish have all died and the tank has run with only corals, I am not getting diatom algae growing in the sand like I was. Why is that? Is the waste what feeds the brown algae? I do have a new kind of GHA showing up though but not in mass.
