In high-school I worked for Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge IL they had a customer get stung by a Black Volitan Lion. All the ER did for her is clean the area and soak it in hot water "not boiling but HOT" The ER Doc. advised the heat from the water breaks down the protein based venom.
It's a little late, but I've always read that you treat it like a bee sting. The hot water method causes the proteins in the venom to denature (break down) and become less effective.
I would do hot water, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25-50 mg (50mg would be better but can cause drowsiness) and ibuprofen 400 mg with food, and hydrocortisone cream around the area.
Yes I am alive. I got lucky, lol. I ran it under super hot water and took benadryl. I don't know if it is even worth a picture!
A little bit of swelling, the joints in the two fingers he stung are really stiff. I am still having random pains, feels like needles inside stabbing. You can see in the picture the little red punctures from his spines. Hurts alot worse than the urchin sting did.
I am not allergic to bees or wasps so i think i got lucky lol.
