I went ahead with all thats going on with my tank at the moment to go ahead and put the sand in. I am only doing it for appearance. With a bare bottom that is black it made my tank look a little darker than I like. THe pics dont really show the big difference. But here you go...

Before pics.

I had a OVer dose on my tank and it has killed of all but one fish so I had a lot of death causing a spike in ammonia and a pretty big algae bloom. but its actually dying off pretty quick as I got it under control really fast.

here are a couple other pics I took realy quick as well.

yea, IT brightens the tank up a lot. With the moon lights and stuff it reflects a lot of light back up. I didnt even use a full bag. THe tank is clearing up. and algae that grew already turned brown and is dying off. I am hoping in another week or two it will be mostly gone.
The water is pretty much all cleared up now. I did rinse it some .
So Dave, you gonna go sand ? ill be home later tomorrow after 3 or 4 if you want to take a look.

You know I am really tempted

yea you should stop by and check it out. The water is clear now. So it helps the look even better.

the water this morning is crystal clear. A huge improvement over a week ago. I would say another %10 of the algae that was there is gone today after the grim reeper took my fish.

It really brightend up my tank a lot. The sand is Natures ocean brand.
Premium special reef sand. its a heavier grain and the vortech hasnt moved it. I do have to move my tunze as it was pointing towards the front glass and moved a little spot. but it is doing better than expected. I wasnt sure about it when doing it. I thought I really wanted a bare bottom tank so I could crank the flow up. Well it seems I can have both. flow and sand.

Thanks again. I ll have to ake another couple pics.

I personally prefer sand beds for the esthetics....I think yours looks much better with the sand. Sorry to hear about your mass death.....sucks.
