Wesylophylia not opening?...Coral beauty culprit?

I have a mixed reef SPS/LPS majority and a few softies.
Params near perfect:
Ammon: 0
Nitrate:0
Cal: 420 salifert
ALK: 8.8 hanna checker
PO4: .01-.02 Hanna HI 736 checker
pH 8.05-8.20
temp: 78.5
salinity 35ppt

I also have a trachyphylia that is open fully. But the weslophylia, is closed up most always. He is open a bit at night i do notice. Everything else is fine & happy. Clams & feather dusters too....

I have a coral beauty I do see nip occasionally at a few of my acan's (they are OK), he nipping at the weslophylia?? Typical culprit?? I have it on the bottom of the tank on sand in low flow. 250 w MH's & t-5's.....??

Something else?

what coral is next to it? zoanthids and mushrooms that are nearby could be preventing it from opening fully. mine didnt open for weeks until i moved it away from what it was next to and now its fine.

nothing really is near it. He has a good 6-8" from much of anything. clam is the closest, then a frogspawn. But even when both would be fully open a good 8" between them.

have you watched the coral beauty pick at it? id say watch and make sure hes doing it before removing him. other than that i really dont know. how about strontium? ive seen multiple open brain type corals in side by side comparisons of tanks with and without strontium, and it seems to make a big difference in pictures, but idk.

i am not dosing anything at the moment. Only things i really have yet to see nip was my tangs. But they were more nipping at the POO, it was releasing atthe time.

I do also have a green bubble that has been slowly wilting away the last 5 mos.
Too sterile system? But I have zoo's & gorganian & other LPS just fine.

i used to have the same problem with a chunk of duncans in my tank and when i was in the room all the fish would always play it cool, but i eventually caught both my vlamingi tang and coral beauty nipping at the duncans, lobos, and acans. i feed enough too they just got curious and liked what they tasted i guess

Well I moved the coral 4 days ago to my frag tank and he seems to be opening back up pretty good for the last 2-3 days now. Also he is on egg crate about 6" under water with 250w mh.

So either he didn't like sand in DT, wasn't getting enuf light, or yellow tang, blue tang or coral beauty angel was nipping at him.

my other lobo, trachy, and duncans are all just fine. But I definity have seen the coral beauty nip at my acans.

Centropyge angels (angels in GENERAL, too!) and some tangs find Meaty LPS irresistable. We've even come to the conclusion that Trachyphyllia are the fish version of Crack Cocaine.
Whenever you add an LPS, be sure to find out what fish will potentially pose a threat.
But then again, 'shrooms in my former 36 gallon managed to sicken my hard corals. You also have to look at your inverts too!
Unfortunately, I think your CB and Tang are very likely suspects..
