wet or dry skim?

What is better? I think wet is more maintenance because you have to clean it out more, but.. I feel it's more efficient because the tube does not get plugged full of dry skimmate, bubbles does not seem to travel as well on the rough surface.

I think wet skim = less maintenance (if you have a drain build in your collection cup). Dry skim, you have to clean the head every other day.

I agree with reefer. But I'm not gonna lie, I did wipe down my cup tonight. I was thinking about cleaning my skimmer this weekend, I think I only cleaned it one time this year. I have wiped it down tho.

The hardest thing for me to do is dump a 3 gallon bucket of skimmate every 4 - 5 days.

Also dont get wet skimming and wet skimmate confused. When wet skimming there is no spill over, there are just bubbles that pop at the top of the riser, like boiling water.

I was at one time wet skimming waaaaaaaay to much work for me. I started to cut back a little at a time and now skimming dryer and that seems to work out to once a week for my Maintenance on it. The tank is BB so the extra nutrients in the tank help with the colors of my sps.............................
