SPotter...I run four MP60s and have in the past had a similar issue, but one that I have pretty much resolved. I came to conclude that the root cause for me was that the wet/dry sides were not really well aligned and/or the spacer/rubber cover on the dry side needed to be wiped clean and reset so that it laid perfectly flat. Similar to you, when the modes changed, I found NTM generally the culprit do to the power surging up and down during the wave portion, to sometimes cause the pump to seperate.
This is what has solved my problem when reattaching after maintenance:
1. When disconnected, scape inside of tank well where wet side will sit. Be sure to get any algae or other junk that may be there.
2. When disconnected, clean outside where the dayside will sit. I use a little vinegar to make sure any dust, salt, etc is gone and perfectly clean.
3. Hold dry side static and align by moving only the wet side.
4. Start-up on a very low constant power mode.
5. Keeping hand on/near wet side (be careful not to lose a finger here), ramp up the speed to max and ensure no issues. If you hear any chatter or get rotation of the dry side, try to move the wet side to improve alignment. Make VERY SMALL adjustments, a little can mean a lot.
6. Assuming all is good, go to a wave, NTM, etc. and monitor to ensure to chatter/rotation/separation.
This has solved my MP60 separation issues post-maintence, almost completely.
Good Luck....JPB
