I had placed a thread in the corallimorph forum a bit back, wondering about a bit of euphylia skeleton with some new growth on it. The guys at my LRS thought it was a corallimorph of some sort(I was specifically told ric. lmao. I knew it wasn't that) and I was curious. I'm really 99% positive it is that the skeleton wasn't dead and is coming "back" to life. It retreats into a hard base when it is disturbed, and it is GROWING!

Only a couple of weeks difference in the pictures. And I propped it up because I accidentally knocked it over one day and noticed some new polyps on the other side. :)

frogspawn skeleton but the growth is not on the top but at the branching, that's probably a totaly different polyp. The first pic (poor quality) looks like a closed button polyp, the second pic a few bubble coral polyps. Hmmm.... I need some tylenol for this headache from eyestrain.

Heh. Sorry about the pics. I have to use my phone as my camera, and it isn't very good. I know it is a stony coral though for sure. And even if it isn't a hammer/frogspawn it is still a nice piece :) Plus from what I've read about corals, they can re-grow sometimes if they are "dead" looking. I need to wait for it to get a bit bigger before I try to take pics of it if I just wanted an id for it. The pics were more to show a bit of how fast it is growing. Close to 1/3rd bigger at least since it has been in my tank.
