What am I looking at here?

So today I've come across this small collection of........ well I'm not sure. These little things are at the top of my tank. It's not something growing on the glass it looks like they have been placed there (like eggs).

I don't have much in my tank right now, I cycled my tank with live rock about a month ago and just introduced a pair of Ocellaris Clowns.

I know that I have 2 Asterina Stars in my tank that came with the live rock, I've been waiting for the right time to remove them. After doing a bit of research I'm thinking they might be Asterina Star eggs?!?!

The little things are orange/red in colour.

Asterina stars don't do any harm really, so no compelling need to remove them. Unless you just don't like them.

Exactly what kind of snails do you have in your tank? We might be able to determine who's they are from comparing pictures online.

I'd remove those Asterina stars btw. There's just too many horror stories out there to let them roam freely IMO.

If they are asterina stars, you could sustain a harlequin shrimp and enjoy its antics.

I have 4 turbo snails in there at the moment. I've heard that Asterina Stars are a pest but I haven't worked out exactly why.

If those are Clownfish eggs the fish would be in the picture IMO. They don't venture too far away when this happen. I don't recall ever seeing the eggs encapsulated like that either. They might be Turbo snail eggs, but I've always thought that they were broadcast spawners as opposed to depositing an egg mass like this. There might be something else in the tank that hasn't been identified yet that's doing this.

Asterina Stars will be fine. They will come and go. They mostly eat Detritus.
I have had them in my tanks, full of Zoas, without any problems.

As for the eggs, I would say Snails. (They look too small to be Clownfish eggs, compared to the thickness of the glass.)

I also agree with snail eggs! Good luck with your tank and keep us posted on the progress!!

I would need a clearer picture to be sure, but the color suggests clown fish eggs to me also. They will lay eggs in odd places, especially if they are young and inexperienced.

Looks like clownfish eggs to me.

these were my first thoughts, also, especially with a description of the "orange/red" coloring. my clowns have laid eggs numerous times and when i take pics, both the male and female will stay just out of camera range. as soon as i walk away, the male is back to fanning the eggs.

Maybe the link below will help. Notice how the eggs are not incapsulated in a sack like the OP's? It's almost a spitting image of freshwater Cichlids spawning. Also, Clownfish eggs don't just show up IMO. There would have been plenty of signs that this was going to happen.
