Need some input from you guys/gals here!:wavehand:
Since "Super Storm Sandy" I've had a few set backs. Of course my reef was a total loss since we were without power for 21 days. After a mini cycle the tank seemed ready for stocking. First incident was the death of all my fish due to accidentally spilling some Bayer mixture in the tank. Second incident PBT came down with ICK which spread to all the second batch of fish.
I mention this because I was not able to remove a good portion of the dead fish.
After the second incident I ran the DT fowler for 10 weeks. Below are the number of fish now residing in the tank currently.
The problem now is: I am still battling GHA with a decent CUC. I even purchased a seahare which did not help in the least. Seahare died a week later! Never ate any of the gha.
As of a short time ago my SPS have lighten up quite a bit. Not bleached, just super pale.
Here are the Pars:
Temp. 78 - 80
Salinity 1.024
PH unknown (need to replace probes)
Alkalinity 8dkh
Magnesium 1400ppm
Calcium 450ppm
Nitrates undetectable
PO4 .08ppm
Fish are all doing well with the exception of the YT;
Flame Angel
Bicolor Angel
Coral Beauty Angel
Majestic Angelfish (my favorite of all fish)
Little skinny Yellow Tang
Naked Clownfish
Nearly Naked Clownfish
Female Flame Wrasse
LPS corals are doing well except for the acans (which with the angelfish might very well be they are being picked on), SPS not so much (lost color intensity).
Action taken now to combat GHA as well as the color intensity in the SPS; I've turned the white LEDs down to 50%, and reduced the photo period to 5hrs. The blue LEDs cut back to 70%, but still running for about 12hrs. I'm home all day, and seeing a blacked out tank all day would be awful.
It has been approximately a week of the above.
Continuing normal 25% weekly RO/DI water change, running BRS GFO & GAC(Roxi) through BRS duo reactor changed out monthly, Felt socks changed bi-weekly.
GHA on sandbed is gone. Still have GHA on some rocks, colors on SPS still faded.:idea::idea::idea::idea:
