What am I?

Based on the dark spots (very pronounced) where the dorsal and anal fins meet the tail, I thought I was getting a very fancy lavender tang (A. nigrofuscus). But now based on the shape of the dorsal and anal fins, I'm not so sure...

What?! No way... really? I have not seen those two dark spots on any pic, juvi or adult, for that species....

I might be off...
But the yellow in the fins with the blue outlines and the striations on the body all fit that bill.

I'm thinking Acanthurus nigroris at this point. Yay! Which is great... small, attractive, and rare....

Just curious, so were you right on the Acanthurus nigroris id? Did he retain those beautiful stripes and coloring? Or was he a juvenile dussumieri or mata tang which look really similar?

Yes it's definitely a nigroris. He has darkened up considerably but the blue lines are still somewhat visible and the yellowish on the fins is also nice.
