I think it is one of the anemone that sometime call "Flat Zebra anemone" It is one of the thousands of non-clownfish hosting anemone.

Looks like Heteractis aurora. Somewhat bleached, nothing that would dissuade me from purchasing, if I wanted it.

yes after looking at pics online, it might be Heteractis aurora. can u see the tiny nem on the rock next to it, LFS say its same as big one...

Petco sell these anemones often. IMO, they are not H. aurora. I have seen several H. aurora but never keep them. H. aurora are some what uncommon, but hese Zebra are very common. Other than having stripes on the tentacles, they do not like H. aurora IMO.

E. Crucifer and H. Malu often have striped and serrated tentacle patterns that, when stressed or bleached, can look identical to H. Aurora. The way I can always tell them apart is the elaborate and systematic patterns around the mouth. The patterns always remind me of fractals, and almost always include numerous teardrop shapes. The other 2 tend to have light, random patterns around the mouth, or no pattern at all.

Agree Bradley. In the pics you can see the characteristic pattern around the mouth, you can also see the reddish base that aurora has. To me it looks distinctly H. aurora. Probably isn't dug into the sand because the sand bed is so shallow.
