What angel should I put in my reef tank?

i have had a red sea regal but i had to get rid of it because it started eating my brains. then i had a swallowtail male which just lost all of its color so i got rid of that and now i dont know what to do.

Seth,
Sorry I didn't get back with you earlier.

Both the male and female wantanabie's have the swallow tail. Mine didn't have much of one when I first got him but it's grown out nicely. I saw a female this weekend at a LFS and she too had a nice swallow tail on her. I wanted to buy her but the owner couldn't catch her. She was in a heavly stocked SPS show tank.

i was considering those, but they are just so expensive!!! have you ever seen a female bellus angel locally that is eating and everything?

They also had a Bellus in the same tank. Not for sure if it was a male or female as I didn't look at it that much. Was more interested in the female and some of the cool wrasses they had in there. ;)

the bellus female is more pretty. the male is greyish. do you know how much they wanted for it? and do they have a website?

You should be able to find bellus if you wait a while. They sell them in the LFS around here for $20-30. It just might not be the right time of year for them.

I have a pair of watanabei and 4 swallowtail females that I am hoping that one turns to a male. They are great fish.

They don't have a website as they are just a local store. Not for sure how much they wanted as we didn't get that far.

I know there are several places online who sell them. Not for sure on price/availability. I usually try and buy my fish local so I can se what I'm getting.

Don't ask me what I paid for my male ;) , I got him from a wholesaler so it was a lot cheapier than any store or online. :D

my lfs wont bring them in cause they say they always die.

That's weird.

I have heard that they sometimes have problems because they are a deep water species. But mine has been doing just fine since I got him back in December.

As far as places to get them, only what was posted earlier or try and talk you LFS in to getting them with the understanding that you will pick it up upon arrival. That way they don't even have to unbag it or handle it. ;)

thats a good idea. i will talk to them about that. whayt would u suggest i try to feed her first once i get one?

I second the Genicanthus recommendation. A friend has a female swallowtail angel, and it's a gorgeous fish. Doesn't bother the inverts, either. :)

Mine feeds on pellets with everyone else. I occasionally feed frozen prepared foods but not often as most of my fish will not eat anything that floats on the top. So I have to thaw it out and then pour it in. I've also fed live brine as well as frozen enhanced brine. He eats it all.

The only thing I have not seen him eat yet is Nori. But I have 5 LARGE fish that usually tear up the sheet when I put it in so he dosen't go near it yet. ;)
