I can't seem to find info on the dimensions of the actual pump, but if you give Roger at Tunze USA a call or email I'm sure he would get you the info very quickly.

Does anyone know the demension of the pump that comes with the Tunze ATO? I need to be able to put it in a 5 gallon water jug as this is what I use for my ATO reserve.

It would not fit in a 5 gallon water cooler jug with the small tops, but it is a smaller pump.

Wouldn't a screen top keep some of the light from getting into the tank as well?

Some yes, but it is an insignificant amount. As a percentage of light, it might block 5-6%, where a thick glass top with some salt creep would be more.

Thanks, I just got a new nem and I have glass tops, gonna have to look into getting a screen top now so I gets all the light it possibly can

Yo could cut the top off some? Get the exact dimensions first, but I am almost positive the pump is too large for that tiny opening.

Bulk reef supply sells the mesh, all you need is to build a screen frame using cheap stuff found at lowes. Could i do it agin, I would search out black mesh, since the clear stand sout more. Could be me overthinking it though.

I have a tunze....Go to your local LFS or your local clud and get a 5 gallon water carry jug that everyone uses in the salt world. The pump fits in it nicely..

The ATO is great too....

Use a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot with a lid. I think they are $6 in the store.

I might be a little late, but I also Approve of the glass canopy Removal.I did a while back, talk about night and day.They were a Pain in the Butt to keep clean, I still have a center brace, that I hate.Next tank, all euro braced!

I also recommend a Tunze Osmolator!

I used to have a screen top....Loved it til i got a tiger jawfish....I'll be damned if he found a way out.....i rescued him from the floor and plopped him back in. From now on i'll use the glass top. BTW i have a lifereef overflow and a j tube return so it's hard to seal the complete top with screen.
