What are my zoas being taken over by?

It began a very thick cluster than I noticed some thinning, not closed polyps but just small bare spots. I know these are not the clearest pics but it looks like a white spongy film, any one familiar w is?
Also which wrasse or fish would you guys reccomend for keeping nudibranchs and other pests away?

Syringed this little guy out the other day, too bad they munch on our zoas I think they are cool looking, especially the orange ones..

I think you've got sponge among the polyps.
You can remove it siphoning while doing water changes.
Avoid hit the polyps while doing it and avoid brushes at all costs.
If you need help you use a tweezers while siphoning very carefully not to hurt the flesh.

Some sponges are sensitive to air exposure, not all. You could try to dry the colony for 5 min. and see.

If that's a film, not sponge, dip with Lugol's solution.

I'll wait for others on the wrasses' deal.

What could have cause the film? I have similar issue, try the Lugol dip and now my colony is all blackened.

Grandis, that was quick, thank you. I don't have Lugols, would coralrx do the same? If not I can always buy some. Thank you much for the other tips I will try those first.

Just pulled it, you hit on the head, its def some sort of sponge, think I'll give tweezers a go. is that just one of those things or do you think my other colonies could possibly start getting them as well?

You're very welcome!
Many people say that Coral RX is very good to dip new corals and zoas before you place them in the system. I didn't try yet.
Next time you get new additions to the tank you can use it to prevent hijackers.
I'm not sure about it's ability against bacterial infection. I use Lugo's for that.

Most of the time sponges can be removed easily and the spreading would depend on the species. They aren't too bad to eliminate.
Just remove slowly and gently with tweezers and the colony will be fine.
You could use the tip of a fine knife also. Scrape gently and try not to push the polyps around too much. Just take your time...
