what are you guys using for ATO?

I use my own two little hands :D

I have 50' vinyl hoses with shut off valves hooked up to my RO/Di's. They reach every one of my tanks, just hang them in and set a timer, that's it.

on my big tank i have a 2 float switch setup, connected to an aqualifter inside a 15 gallon tank. then i have my rodi plumbed directly to it, that refills 2ce a week exactly enough to fill it.

my 30 gallon in my room will have a 2 float switch setup as well, 5 gallon tank inside my room, and a 55 gallon drum feeding it.

i think just feel refilling a top tank is such a chore.. lol worst part of the hobby i think.

anyhow hths.

Kent float valve and elevated RO/DI storage tank. At least, that's on the 250....the other misc. tanks are manually topped off.

3 tanks I do manually with a buquet (Royal PIA), the big tank has a tunze osmolator, it works very nice

HHHMMMM...3 tanks?
Rogger did we lose a tank somewhere?

i went to autotopoff.com, bought a double switch mount for the sump, plugged an aqualifter pump that I bought online real cheap which basically has one airline tubing leading into your sump and a 2nd airline tubing into your water container. I have a 5 gallon bucket in my stand next to the sump with fresh water that gets added as the water evaporates. When it runs low I just swap in a full 5 gallon bucket. It lasts a few days without me having to mess with it and if I needed to go out of town for a week or longer I could just set up a large rubbermaid next to the stand and run the airline tubing to that instead. I think this cost me like 60 plus a bit on shipping but it sure beats daily manual top offs.

As of right now I drip kalkwasser as my make up water. It uses a 1g bottle connected to a control valve along the airline tubing into my sump. I barely evaporate half a gallon, but it pretty much empties the whole 1g so that means my sump is higher then usual and i have to fill it up less.

Float valve switches I dont trust too much anymore, its all manual untill I can get my hands on a doser pump. Once I do that, I will have it either on a timer to dose a certain amount or have it connected to my RK2 as a pH controller and from there it will drip as much as it needs. Usually during night to keep the pH up.

kent float switch valve.
I wonder what's going to happen when the float switch valve breaks or malfunctions? huuum(room full of water, About two gallons daily- I figure i have two days to c the problem and fix it) anyways i change the valve every 4 months for a new one, since i dunno want my reef to be inundated by R/O water and all is dead.
There's def better ways to g about this but this by far the easiest one IMO.
R/O unit- to kent valve and top off continuously.
If my valve breaks I know its going to happen when I'm away- I wish I've thought bout this before hand, Now I just change the valve every so often and hope!

i do everything manually, and since i dont have an RO/DI unit i go get about 5 gallons every 6 days or so... it kinda sucks... id love to install an RO/DI but with all the expenses of moving to a new place and setting up the tank (starboard for bottom, new 29 for display, glass for baffles on the 20L, painting the stand, finally skinning the stand so its quieter, etc) i dont think i can convince the lady that i need a $170 water filter too...

I managed to convince mine that we needed one and also convinced her to buy it for my b-day. I set-up a faucet on the sink for ro water to drink, and hooked it up to the icemaker since the ice always had a funny smell. she was happy as can be about having clean ice.

hmm... well we have no ice maker, but we do drink filtered water... right now we use one of those Pur water filters...

theoretically i could just buy it and justify the purchase later... she did tell me i could do what i needed to move the tank over to the new place, and the nearest LFS to my new apartment is 58 blocks away,,, and down kendall 58 blocks is like an hour each way...

I have JBJ ATOs on both tanks with 6 gal buckets with lids ("Fishin' Bucket" from K-Mart) in the stand. I cut small holes and added grommets in the lids for the tubing and cables to minimize evaporation. I add Kalkwasser mix to the RO water in the buckets to help stabilize Ph/Alkalinity. Small pumps in the buckets are activated by the ATO when the level drops in the sumps.

Aquamedic Niveaumat w/float switch which is a dosing pump pulling water from a 12g 24"h x 12"w water container going through a Fishblowz Nilsen (Kalkwasser) reactor into my sump. Keeps my PH right were it should be and I only have to top off the water storage container once every two weeks.
