what are your opinions on mis matching clowns?

I was thinking about getting one black clown and one orange and white clown. What kind of problems do you think I could run into adding them at the SAME time. Think it is doable? it is a 40 gallon breeder reef.

Ive tried adding an orange clown into a tank that already had a black clown all settled in for 6 months and I had to get rid of the orange one.

You should be fine if they are both young and added at the same time. I currently have a pair of mixed black and orange occ clowns in my tank.

Make sure the new clown is significantly smaller than the established one. You may also need to seperate one or the other in a breeder net for a few days.

They don't even need to be the same species, there are many natural/wild hybrids. Of course not all clowns mix but, Occi and Percs or Orange Occi and Black Occi is fine. I have a pair of clowns, a mix of Black Occi and "Smore" snowflake. The female was 1yr old and the male was added at 4 months old. It was almost an instant pairing and they've been happy ever since.

If i choose to do a mix match then I will be adding two completely NEW clowns so there would not be a problem with an established clown in the tank.
This is all if I can bare to let go of my current pair. They may be fish but I still think "what if they get put into a "bad" tank?"
