What balling protocol do you use in your SPS tanks?

Hello everyone, I would like to pass under the balling method shortly. Unfortunately I do not know much about this method and I want to know what protocol do you use?

Do you use different salt such as Fauna Marin protocol or only supplementation liquids such as Elos products for example?

I do not know of any other protocol balling than in Fauna Marin ! Do you have any other protocol offer ?

I use calcium chloride and baking soda. With recommended faunna marin trace, the 3 bottles. Easy to use. Don't use mg at the moment, rely on water change. 10 precent weekly.

The BRS protocol is cheap and good. My SPS guzzles 150ml per day each. Now moving on to the GEO 612 reactor.
-Balling is the eupoean way of saying 2-part dosing.

Yes, that's the word we use here in Europe, but it's the 3-part dosing (CA, ALK, MG) :spin3:

But here, many people use liquid already prepared as proposed Elos and it costs quite expensive. Different brands began to arrive in Europe and offers protocols based on 3 salts ( Calcium, Magnesium and alkalinity ) by adding "Trace elements" as Fauna Marin does.

I try to look for several weeks different methods that are used here in Europe and the united states.

Supplementation with salts and not liquid is a difference .

I think the original balling method included a more complex method of removing water and doing water changes with low sodium salt as well as adding the chemicals if I remember correctly.

Currently Fauna Marin proposes a protocol " 3 - dosing " with the following salts :

- "Calcium chloride dihydrate mixture" combined with "trace elements" for Calcium .

Trace Elements strontium / barium complex

- "magnesium chloride hexahydrate mixture" for magnesium.

No added Trace Elements for magnesium.

- "Sodium bicarbonate mixture" combined with " trace elements " for Alkalinity .

Trace Elements : iodine / flour complex

Seems to be really simple and complete! :bounce3:

Anyone use Red sea?

I'm thinking of starting to use this vs kalk because it feels like I'm ignoring some of the biological needs of things spiking levels only during a wc weekend.. :)
