What brand dehumidifier are you using...

...and are you happy with it? What size is it? How many square feet are you using it on?
I need a new one . Mine is an antique and keeps freezing up.

I'm especially interested if you have a basement sump or complete basement system.
These times of the year when the furnace or AC is not running you can feel the humidity in my basement. The AC probably won't be on until August at the rate we are going here in NE Ohio.

Hey Keith,

I have an LG 45 pint model. It used to freeze up on me too until I changed it to a 2 hour on 2 hour off cycle. I have it in the basement next to the sump along with a lot of cast iron (table saw, band saw, jointer etc) and it works fine now. I'd probably go the next size up if I had to do it again do to all of the Iron.

Ed, Long time no see. I'll check out the LG's. I have also looked at the Frigidaire's.
They will all do what they are supposed to do, I would imagine.

I have 210g between (3) tanks in my basement approx 25x32. I run a Haier 30 pint dehumidifier which works ok, but I would definitely go up a size if I could do it over. If I turn it much past the normal range it will run nearly continuously. I've been running mine for almost 9 years now without any issues other than keeping the coils etc clean.

I have a Frigidiare 70 pint. It works good. I have a 90 gallon tank with a 100 gallon rubber maid stock tank as the sump. It runs pretty much all the time. The biggest thing for me was the noise from the other brands when the compressor kicks on. The Frigidiare was the quietest one I could find of the 4 brands that I tried.

I have a Kenmore 70 pint next to 600 gallons in my basement. It works well i keep it set at 70 so its not on all the time it is quite noisy

Why in the world would you want a dehumidifier hooked to your HVAC system? That what the A/C units does. The reason for a dehumidifier in the basement is that you do not circulate that air thru your HVAC system...

Dave, my wife actually went and picked one up. She had enough of the "cave smell/feel" in the basement. It is a GE, 65 pint, from Wal-Mart.
It is doing a great job. It was around $200.

Mine is set on 70%.
